tip label The Golf Swing Takes Place Inside the Walls

Imagine two walls like the ones illustrated in the following pictures. One wall is located just outside of the end of the grip at address and the other is just behind the heels. These two walls define the total space needed to execute the proper motion of the golf swing. The better players’ swings are simple and efficient, which is something that we all strive for.

FRAME 1: Arms are hanging down and posture has good tilt.
FRAME 2: Knees are flexed, upper body is rotating and the hands, arms and club are proper alignment.
FRAME 3: The hands and club are both inside the walls at the top of the swing. This is the ideal “one-plane position” at the top for those of you that keep up with the latest in golf instruction terminology.
FRAME 4: Halfway down the hands and club are still inside the walls. Notice how the golf club is in perfect alignment with the ball. Many golfers have the hands well outside of the walls at this point of the swing.
FRAME 5: At impact, the hands are still inside the wall. Look how the body is rotating through. This is very important in a one- plane golf swing. Another key ingredient is to keep a steady head position throughout the swing.
FRAME 6: Compare this picture to the picture at the top of the swing. Now the right shoulder just touches the outside wall as the left hip touches the inside wall. This is just the reverse of the position at the top.

You can develop a simple, repetitive swing by eliminating excessive movements and motions that cause your hands and/or club to move outside the imaginary walls. Spend some time in front of a mirror checking your swing positions and focus on the feel that you have when you stay inside the walls.

Learn How To PLAY Better Golf with a former PGA Tour Member

Pia Nilson, the famous Swedish coach and mental coach to many players including Annika Sorenstam, has said that golf is a difficult game to teach because the teacher rarely sees the student play. I couldn't agree more. It's difficult because of time constraints for both the student and the teacher.

I'm excited to about a new opportunity that our customers have. As you have already read, we are thrilled to have David and Daniel Thore join our team. One of the new programs that we are offering is a playing evaluation with former PGA Tour Member David Thore. -- Robert

These PLAY Better Golf Evaluations will:

  • give a true idea of how you should develop your practice sessions to be the most beneficial to your game.
  • give your instructor an evaluation that will be a great asset in developing your long range program.
  • help you learn course management strategies and techniques that many golfers don't know or continually fail to notice.
  • develop a plan that maximizes your abilities and enables you to score better.
  • receive a written assessment within 24 hours that will give insights and thoughts about concepts and ideas that will help you play to your potential.

Discover your MENTAL GAME PROFILE online today!

"I would like to recommend this new service that we have been using since Mid-February. It's a mental golf personality assessment and it has been a great asset to me as a teacher and to the students who have done the profile. It's based on DISC management principles and has been tailored and specifically designed for golfers. The benefits for the student-teacher relationships are fantastic. It has given me insight that has allows me to tailor specific ideas for individuals, rather than lump all mental training concepts together." -- Robert

Mental Golf The cost of the mental game profile is $75. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and everything is done online. Your instructor will also receive a copy of your profile. Once you get the profile, you should print it out and keep it in a notebook. You can use this notebook to make notes and ideas and suggestions that you or you with you instructor have about playing and learning.
