  • BIOGRAPHY

Ellen Lapierre joins Precision Golf as a Class A member of the LPGA. Ellen's experience includes Head Women's Golf Coach at UNC-Greensboro from 1997 to 2003 and a Guest Instructor at Wake Forest Women’s and Junior Golf Camps. Prior to coaching, she was an assistant pro at Briarwood Country Club in Phoenix, AZ, and at Lafayette Golf Course in Lafayette, IN. She came to North Carolina in 1996 as an assistant/teaching pro at Pine Knolls Golf Club in Kernersville before becoming interim head coach for the Spartans in January of 1998. Ellen resides in Greensboro with her husband Mark and two small children.

In her five and one-half seasons as the Head Women's Golf Coach with the UNC-Greensboro Spartans, she guided the Spartans to five consecutive runner-up finishes in the Southern Conference Tournament and three tournament victories. She coached a SoCon Tournament medalist and a two-time NCAA East Regional qualifier. Five Spartans were named to the All-SoCon team under her tutelage.

During the 2000-01 season, the Spartans captured the Memphis Intercollegiate title, while Jenny Gleason took home medalist honors for the tournament. That season, UNCG claimed four top-five finishes and had two All-SoCon honorees. In the 1999-00 season, Spartan golfers set new 18 and 54- hole team records, with a 292 in the first round of the SoCon Championship and a 901 final score. The Spartans were runners- up to Furman by a single stroke at the SoCon Championships, the closest margin in conference history.

Lapierre was an All-America performer at DePauw, qualifying for the Division III regionals four times. She graduated in 1993 with a bachelor of arts degree in communications and a minor in English.
